The challenge
Downtown condo. Generous windows, replete with light and the beryl sanctity of the bay’s lapping waters pepper the north wall of this downtown condominium and home. Balancing light and pulling northern views through the space required artful design and execution.
The solution
A perfect perch, akin to the helm of a great vessel, sits at the base of the west arm of Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan. Environmentally friendly materials were employed throughout this carefully crafted home. House miters wed base flush to door casings and seamlessly surround this space as cabinet-grade joinery shelters the inhabitant. Ashlar stone floors large in scale and laid with exactingly tight margins and reveals lend the observer peace and tranquility, as this palliative haven appears nearly to navigate Grand Traverse Bay.
