Carving space into an existing full masonry home posed more challenges than normal. Rare structural bricks support the bearing in this home.
Properly insulating this diminutive home with masonry walls required careful analysis. Thermally broken ripped framing was fastened to the masonry, then closed cell foam filling the shallow cavities transformed this house from a stone energy sieve into a brick-faced cooler (BYOB). Inside, built-ins and miles of wood paneling adorn the interior creating a family-size doll house. Painted wood paneling ensconces the sloped ceilings; built-ins create much needed storage in every nook and cranny. Solid wood, tailored bead board installations, custom furniture and period-correct tiling complete the transformation. This is the little home you want to wake up in on Christmas morning.
